A majority of Indians will read this news as a clear indication of Pakistan supporting insurgency, fundamentalism and terrorism while a majority in Pakistan will read this news with concern and apprehension and an antipathy for the US. But, what is the real story? Are Pakistan and US going to split as allies in their war against terrorism? Will this be a simple decision for the Pakistan Army to take and implement? Will this affect badly the existence of Pakistan? What will the impact be on India? These are some of the various questions readers will ask and discuss. A common statement usually heard in India is that Pakistan is now a failed state whose life is too short. Is this the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Getting critical about Pakistan simply because bilateral relations between India and Pakistan have not been very cordial in the past will indicate a clear prejudice. General A Kayani has been holding meetings with his officers and they as an organization will know what is best and in the defense interests of Pakistan. Hence arriving at any conclusion or drawing any inference without knowing the whole truth will not be appropriate.
